James byron huggins cain ebook

Action, suspense, thriller, and a bit of horror. Read now. Nov 17, Corey Frampton rated it it was amazing. I picked this one up at random in a used bookstore and it was one of my favorite finds of all time.

The story is action packed, the characters are well put together, the story flows. It's not terribly original, but the execution is amazing. It's a quick read, fast-paced and a lot of fun. If you're looking for depth and symbolism and the meaning of life, you're probably in the wrong place. But if you want to have a fun afternoon read, this is the place. Dec 02, Sue Plant rated it it was amazing Shelves: james-byron-huggins.

Dec 19, Melissa Rush rated it liked it. I enjoyed this book for the following reasons: 1. I love mixing theology and Catholic Church stuff history stuff with science fiction 2.

It was accurate theologically and historically 3. Lots of action I did not like: 1. Predictable love story TOO predictable 2. Long it went on far too long 3.

Author tried to sprinkle too many big words for no reason Overall I enjoyed the book and give 3 stars! Mar 27, Linda rated it really liked it. I read this book twice and it was just as good the second time through. It had the vilest character I have read ever and very well done. The writing style is excellent, intense.

If you like suspense and strange story lines, then you will find this a griping page turner. Jul 28, Ryan D. Great book. Great action. Fast moving story. Mar 31, Andy Smith rated it did not like it. Huggin's Cain follows every rule to the letter and its still crap. Average rating 4 stars??? Makes me want to cry Jun 17, Mike Falkner rated it it was amazing. I keep this on standby when I need a roller coaster, what a great time I had with this book!!

Mar 10, Louie Simboli rated it it was amazing Shelves: high-tech-thriller. This is an excellent story and book. It was well thought out and written. The story never bogged down.

It kept my interest right up until the last page. Well Done! Nov 29, Tom rated it did not like it Shelves: did-not-finish. Great idea, didn't like the book. Couldn't finish it. Aug 08, Mauro rated it it was ok. Trying to create the ultimate supersoldier from a dead body, the CIA gets more than it wanted. The lifeless body, enhanced with metallic endoskeleton, fangs, superhealing powers and whatnot, becomes instead inhabited by a totally evil demonic presence whose goal is to take back its reign lost something like years before.

This duality of presence and body goes by the name of Cain and seems unstoppable and extremely ferocious. Enter Soloman, another heroic soldier who is grieving for a loss he feels responsible for. He is rescued by former colleagues and somehow convinced that he is the only person who might be able to stop Cain. Along with him come a priest - an exorcist and scholar - and a woman who apparently is the mind behind the creation of the supersoldier.

In the meantime there is someone who is instead against stopping Cain and who will do anything to stop Soloman and his buddies. The plot is quite straightforward, there are no surprises.

Find Cain, fight, survive to fight another day. Until the final showdown there is no spoiler here, everybody knows there will be a final epic battle between Soloman and Cain. The priest has a meaning for being there.

As a priest, I mean. The woman has almost nothing to do and I believe she is just there for eye candy and for creating a possible romantic sidequest for Soloman. Yes there is a subplot about the womans's daughter but it is only to give a reason for the woman to stroll along with Soloman and bring our hero back from the abyss he had fallen. But, honestly, the entire subplot could easily have been erased and the outcome would have been the same. Nevertheless, despite the extravagance and the oddness of the premises, the beginning of the book is interesting and involving.

Unfortunately, there is not enough variation in the plot to keep the reader's attention and a little after half book I lost interest. Cain begins as an intriguing and interesting character but becomes boring as he keeps doing always the same things and doesn't evolve. Often he acts stupid come on, you don't go against firearms and grenades with swords and daggers!

I must say that there is also no real depth in any character. It seems as if everyone has secrets or an important background but then nothing is revealed with the exception of something about Soloman, but it is just a few hints.

If this keeps the pace and the momentum of action, on the other side it gets difficult to empathize with the characters. I think there were the elements for a good and strong story, albeit not a so original one. Unfortunately the delivery has not been satisfactory mainly because of the two reasons I explained above. Perhaps it could be turned into a good film, but there defintely has to be more depth in character. Aug 25, Amy Shannon rated it it was amazing.

Cain by James Byron Huggins is a superbly written, action packed, dealing with the devil story. I have read work from this author before, and I really enjoyed it. The characters had a lot of depth and were very realistic. First, when I started to read this, undead superhuman, uh, super soldier, it automatically made me think of movies that had a similar theme. But when I really got into the story, I realized that was just a theme, not the story.

The story was so well put together, and Cain, though he was possessed, was a magnetic and determined character. Cain is absolutely thrilling! A definite attention grabber, so much I couldn't put it down. The thrills and intrigue is written clearly and the characterizations are engrossing. It was unpredictable my favorite kind of story , and the fate of humanity relied on the failure of Cain.

The author's technique of raw, dramatic characters and great plotlines is a gift. It's a great story to follow and try to figure out what will happen next. Cain is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author Aug 24, Arlene Ogletree rated it liked it. It was a plot device to advance the story but not developed well enough to make sense. As I read the book and the plot advanced, I would have liked for rationale of the daughter as central to the story to be more explored.
